I saw an interesting discussion w/ 17+ pages full of people bickering on Amazon earlier & felt compelled to comment. Being a perfectionist, I struggled not to spend a month or more working on making this, well, perfect. But my nature of procrastination said, post it now or you will never do it. So here it is.
Whether or not you believe the bread & wine become the actual body & blood of Christ, Salvation cannot be capitalized by any one Christian denomination. The Catholic Church does not “own” Salvation nor does the Lutherans nor the Baptists etc. Yeshua IS Salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God to those who would “believe” upon the name of Jesus (Yeshua),that He IS the Son of God, sent by God to earth, his life to be our example, his death to remit our sins, and His resurrection to conquer death & bring all who “believe” in Him & His Works into Eternal Life.
John 3: “15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
All who believe in Jesus (Yeshua) are to be ONE BODY of CHRIST. This feud over the body & blood is not pious. It is straight from Satan. It is a distraction…a deadly & sinful distraction for centuries…from the unity we are to have as the entire CHURCH of Christ. Christ’s CHURCH is not a building…it is a body, His Bride. Christ is the Head of the Body.
Jesus used the vine to show us that the useless branches will be cut off from the whole. Are our rituals & faulty interpretations & strong opinions making us useless? If we are not building up the Body of Christ, we are useless. We might make it into His Kingdom by he skin of our teeth, but is that really the life in Christ that He has for us?
Taking communion, no matter what you believe about it, then living a self-serving life is hardly an expression of faith in Christ. We must die to our sins & be resurrected in Christ. When we truly do that, we will be free to be the Body of Christ that is His Will.
